Not everyone will make it onto the big screen to compete as a Ninja Warrior, but that doesn’t mean you can’t hit the obstacle course and run the Warped Wall for a chance to hit the buzzer.
On November 26, Ninja Parc Newcastle is hosting the first national Ninja Parc Championships sponsored by Koga Sport. With wannabe ninjas from as young as seven travelling from around Australia to compete at the Cooks Hill obstacle course.
You can even compete against former Ninja Warrior contestants including Newcastle local The ‘Saxy Ninja’ Jason Mitchell, season 6 grand finalist Saxon Johnstone, season 5 semi-finalist Cam Mclintock and Townsville ninja Keziah Furnell.
The Ninja Parc course features many of the obstacles from the TV show including rope climbs, bouldering challenges, vertical and horizontal doors, a sea of poles and everyone’s favourite, the Warped Wall.
There will be three age divisions: 7 – 10 years, 11 – 15 years and Open (16 years and above).
Ninja Parc National Program Manager and Newcastle local Mitch Bird, who was one of the course-testers for Ninja Warrior Season 6, said obstacle courses were fast becoming one of the most popular physical activities for both children and adults, and not just because of the TV show.
“It’s easy to see why ninja-style obstacle courses are so loved – they are a great individual challenge and you can also work together as a group to tackle the course,” said Mitch.
“We look forward to welcoming challengers from around Australia for this inaugural event! We’re so excited that Newcastle gets to host the first Championship. The Ninja Parc concept was conceived in Newcastle 6 years ago by local John Pirlo, so it’s fitting that the first competition happens right here where it all started.”
